Our School Enrichment Fund
At a time when funding from central government is inadequate, we urgently need your help by donating to our charitable Enrichment fund.
All schools are facing these increasing financial challenges and so we are extremely grateful to those who support our school through this fund by contributing a one-off annual donation or setting up a monthly standing order. This generosity has enabled us to deliver opportunities and improvements that go far beyond what the core school budget can provide.
In the past year alone, donations have funded:
- Subsidising all visits and experiences, such as museum visits, theatre trips residential stays – hands on practical learning can be so much more enjoyable and impactful for the children.
- Major improvements to our IT infrastructure, including a new server and faster connectivity.
- Improvements to the school site – the creation of The Bubble; a dedicated wellbeing and nurture space for all pupils, a new mud kitchen in the Reception outdoor area, the repair of the Rainbow Road track around the field and the replacement of the playground Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 storage sheds.
- Plants and supplies for growing vegetables and plants in our class beds
- The opportunity to meet authors in person and hear first hand about their inspiration, creativity and passion for writing.
- Dance days with Ricky for all children – such fun and active days for all.
- Virtual Reality Headset Experiences - using technology to recreate historical events or visit amazing places around the world.
- The new Key Stage 2 outdoor shelter, erected in the Autumn Term 2025, supporting outdoor learning and play in all weathers.
- Lots of small items for the classroom - for example food items for baking, the ducklings hatching in our reception classes, or resources for practical Science or DT activities.
Thanks to this fund, we have invested over £60,000 over the past year on projects and initiatives that directly benefit the children.
Looking ahead, planned projects include:
- Much needed IT equipment to ensure all pupils benefit from up to date and more reliable technology
- A complete refurbishment of the children’s Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 playground toilets
Why Your Support Matters More Than Ever
Like many schools, Butlers Court is facing increasing financial pressures.
97% of the core funding we receive from the Local Authority goes directly on the teaching and support staff salaries.
As parents and carers you will know from your own households how rising energy bills, inflation and the cost of living eat into budgets, and the same is true for us. Once these unavoidable costs are covered, there is very little left for the things that make our school such a rich and inspiring place to learn — whether that’s inviting in visiting specialists, running themed weeks, refreshing resources, or maintaining the spaces where children play and learn.
In addition, the school is allocated less than £10,000 a year in a separate capital budget for building repairs and projects, which is far from sufficient to cover the improvements our facilities need.
How You Can Help
To continue providing these opportunities, we are asking if families or friends of Butlers Court could consider contributing to our Enrichment Fund in one of the two following ways:
- Making a minimum suggested voluntary donation of £50 per child per year, via our secure donation page, Please indicate 'Enrichment Fund' as the reference and indicate whether we would be able to claim Gift Aid on your donation - this provides an additional 25% on your donation for the school.
- Setting up a regular standing order for an amount of your choice:
If you are in a position to contribute more than the suggested £50 per year, your generosity will make an even greater difference, helping us to deliver larger projects such as further building works and refurbishment or the purchase of more resources; every additional contribution has a real impact.
