The Great Fire of Butlers Court

On Monday 19th November 2KL and 2BG went out to the Key Stage 1 playground to see their Tudor-style houses lined up to look like two narrow London streets from 1666. A tiny fire was started in Thomas Farriner’s bakery then we watched in amazement as the fire spread! One by one each house caught fire and the flames raced along the rows of houses until all thirty were reduced to just a pile of ash! It was shocking to see how quickly the fire spread along the houses and helped us understand why the fire in 1666 was so devastating to the people of London
