  • Athletics Competition

Wed 27 May 2015 Mr Paul Sutton

We have started our Athletics season with a fixture against Stoke Poges, Burford and Seer Green Schools at the fantastic facility at Little Marlow. Our long distance runners started well in the heat with a number of notable performances especially a stunning run from Lawrie Gawne to win the Year 5 800m.

Our sprinters then ran well with victories in Year 3 for Jayan and Mia, Year 4 for Mattie and Evie and Scarlett in Year 6 with many others picking up points in the other places.  The 200m runners continued our successes with victories for Adam in Year 3, Rebecca in Year 4, Oscar from Year 5 and Jaco in Year 6.   Our relay teams then finished the events with all teams performing well and half of them gaining first place – Year 3 boys, Year 4 boys and both Year 6 teams.

The team should be proud of their efforts which left a top three of Stoke Poges (66 points), Burford (76 points) and Butlers Court (87 points).

  • Year 3 Football Festival in Chartridge

    Fri 22 May 2015

Our first game was against Waterside.  Shortly after kick off Jayan had a shot on goal, it went in, 1-0!  another great shot on goal from Jayan making it 2-0  Great play from Stanley and Mattias, Monty scored a great goal.  With a few more minutes left of the game Jake was running ahead with the ball and he shot and scored, final result 4-0!

The second game was a disaster!  With a mistake by all of us, they scored and they scored again!  It was the last few minutes and we were doing well, but with a throw that went over our heads, they scored again.  The final score was 0-3!

Our third game we played was against Chartridge.  We had a good start with great passing and with a good pass from Stanley it gave Jayan the opportunity to score, he did 1-0.  We were not doing as well after the goal, and gave the opportunity for the other team to shoot, they scored.  With a few minutes to go Jake scored by chipping the ball over the keeper.  Final score 2-1.

Our last game was against Little Chalfont, Jayan scored again!  A few minutes after that we had a throw, Mathew threw the ball to Monty who controlled it and shot from far away.  The ball dipped over everyone and went in the top corner!  We were still up their half with a few minutes to go.  Freddie passed the ball to Jake who was through on goal, a great shot meant we finished 3-0 up!

Well done to: Mathew McCall, Mattias Gianneri,

Jayan Rai, Jake Pearson-Withers, Freddie Fyfe,

    Stanley Pearson-Taylor, Adam Boodhun and

    Monty Evans.

Thank you Mr Sutton for organising it all for us.

  • Y5 6-a-Side Competition

    Fri 22 May 2015

A squad of 8 boys from Y5, Harry Taylor, Jasper Patton, Teyte Smith, Fraiser Andrews, Oscar Timms, Jake Wilson, Bobby Graham and captain Tommy Evans,  took part with 15 other schools in a 6-a-side competition at St Joseph’s.

We started with a tough game against Chartridge which could have gone either way with Fraser, Teyte and Bobby all going close at one end before Chartridge scored with a break away near the end.

We stepped up a gear with our next performance against Little Chalfont with Teyte opening the scoring after a shot from Jake was saved, then finding the net again after good work from Jasper.  Bobby rounded off the scoring to give us a 3-0 victory.

We completed our group games with a 1-0 victory over Farnham Common dominating the game after Teyte scored early on, but still needing a fine double save from Harry at the end.  Our quarter final was against Chalfont St Peter and although we played well, with Tommy producing a good save with a long range shot, we lost 2-0.  The squad should be pleased with their efforts.

  • Y4 and Y5 Netball Tournament

    Fri 22 May 2015

    Wednesday the 13th of May

A team of Y 4’s & 5’s from Butlers Court played a netball tournament at St Marys School involving nine other schools.

Our first match, which was extremely nerve-racking as it was the first tournament for many of our players, ended at 0-0. Our second match was also 0-0. We didn’t realise how experienced the other teams would be, however our defenders worked really hard to stop the other teams from scoring a goal. After a few minutes of precious time to rest it came to our final match in the first round. With our star shooter (Jasmine) we won with a score of 3-1. With our fantastic scores a wave of excitement washed over our players.

We finally heard the amazing results that we were through to the semi-final. However it wasn’t over yet, we were told we were going to do a shoot-out against Robertswood who also had the same amount of points as us and the same goal difference. The teams were still level after five shots which came to the conclusion that we had to do a sudden death play-off using our last 2 members. We managed to get our first shot in but unfortunately our second shot missed which gave away our place of 1st and took us down to 2nd.

Our semi-final match was against Gayhurst which ended 5-1 to them. Sadly we went down to 3rd/ 4th  play-off. Once again we played Robertswood! After some brilliant shooting from Jasmine and Aymee we won 4-1 finishing in 3rd place.

Well done to the following players.
Aymee Patel, Bridget Kent, Anna Hamilton, Jasmine Grinhaff, Daisy McLellan, Sophie Tucker
    and Scarlett Tanner

Thank you to Mrs Lansdown and Mrs Strawa for taking us.

  • Y4 6-a-side Football Festival at Hughenden Valley

    Fri 22 May 2015

We played 5 matches in total.  Our first match was against Gerrards Cross School.  The score remained 0-0 thanks to Patrick Weir pulling off some amazing saves in goal.  The second match was against the Gateway school and still we were unable to score despite some great chances.

The third match was against St Peters and they scored to make it 1-0.  There were some great chances by the team but we were unable to put the ball in the back of the net.

Our fourth was against Chalfont St Peters and yet again was a draw, we were desperate for a goal as we were playing well.

It was the final match when we all seemed to come together as a team with the score being 4-1 against Prestwood.  Sam Murray scored 2 and Oliver McLaughlin scored the other 2 goals.  This really lifted our spirits with Joe Johnston almost scoring another goal.

Would our team stand up: Patrick Weir, Adam Keene, Levi Summers, Aidan Patel, Joe Johnston, Edward Baker, Sam Murray and Oliver McLaughlin.

We would like to thank Mr Sutton for organising the event and refereeing the matches.

  • Reception Visit to Beale Park

    Fri 22 May 2015

    Reception Trip to Beale Park

We were very excited to set off on a sunny Wednesday to Beale Park for our fantastic school trip.  After a long journey we arrived and were excited to board the train for a whistle-stop tour of the park.  We loved seeing the meerkats and prairie dogs that were sunning themselves and who were very keen to say hello! Later in the day we visited ‘Bird Walk’ where we saw beautiful and unusual owls, we learnt a lot about them and wrote about them when we came back to school.  We ended our day with a visit to the brilliant adventure playground.

What a fabulous day we had!

  • Cup Final Match Report

Fri 22 May 2015 William McLaughlin

On Tuesday the 14th Butlers Court played Great Missenden in the final of the cup. It was scorching weather and there were lots of supporters for each team. It started with great defending by Jack and James until Ted won a free kick. Tommy floated in the ball and it was headed out for a corner. Again tommy took it and it was played out to the edge of the box, William hit and with a great backheeled flick it was in the back of the net. A great start for Butlers Court, the half ended 1-0 to us.

It was a great 50/50 game from then on with attacks from both teams. After some time there was a scramble in the penalty area and Great Missenden were lucky to score. The game went on until it was 1-1 at full time. All the boys exhausted but we had to play extra time. There was a very skilful winger on the opposing team and James Murray did fantastically stop him. Alexander in goal was solid and we were unlucky to score at the other end. The game finished 1-1 so the cup was shared. All the team played greatly so can they stand up. Thanks also to Mr Sutton for managing us.
