  • Himalayan Prayer Flags

    Fri 14 Dec 2018

As part of our commemoration of the ending of WW1, the whole school took part in a prayer flag project led by Mrs Habgood. In the tradition of Himalayan prayer flags and combining this with the message of reducing plastic waste, each child created their own flag. This was made from used plastic with an added personal message that might have been related to a memory of a family member, a thank you to those who fought for freedom or a wish for the future health of our planet. The flags were bright and eye-catching and hung outside around the school for a few weeks until the weather "set the messages free"! We hope that the project has helped the children to realise the significance of the centenary and the role they have in preserving the planet for future generations.

  • Y4 Viking Day

    Fri 14 Dec 2018

We were all wearing Viking costumes. There were activities held in the hall so we went in and sat around the fire. The chief's wife was the one teaching us all about Vikings. She did an example of each activities before we got started. There was candle making, ink writing, painting, healing bags, necklaces and more. After each activity we were told some news about what had happened in the town, on the next activity we had to share the news we had just heard. In the afternoon we had some more ancient activities that we all took part in.

Some of the others practiced archery and at the end of Viking day we had a go at defence.

  • Running Track

    Fri 14 Dec 2018

The start of this term saw the introduction of our brand new track. The aim of the track is to give all children an opportunity to be more active throughout the school week, whether it be through walking, skipping, jogging, hopping etc. During the week, each class aims to go out for a number of 'eight minute sessions' to get some extra steps under their belt. Currently, the year 5 and 6's also have the privilege of using the track during lunch time. If the children do 5 laps of the track they have reached a mile, which many children have made their target to try and reach.

  • The Grand Opening of our Science Cabin

    Fri 14 Dec 2018

We are celebrating the completion of the brand new Science Cabin and outdoor area. Staff and pupils will be able to enjoy this fantastic facility and have even more opportunities to learn outside of the classroom. The nearby surroundings will encompass many of the biological units taught and will give the children inspiration to learn about new scientific processes.

Science Coordinator Mr Mark Lynn is thrilled with this latest acquisition for the school. “This will hopefully be the catalyst for many pupils to get involved in all Science and be able to access the wonderful resources of the school. It is hoped that as a primary school we could operate more after school science clubs and provide a link with other science based organisations. Raising the overall profile of Science is a real and exciting challenge ahead.”

On Wednesday 28th November 2018, TV celebrity Johnny Ball officially unveiled the science cabin alongside pupils, teaching staff, governors and PTA giving everyone at the school a memorable day to cherish.

Headteacher, Mrs Jeanette Marshall “It has been a fabulous project, designed and managed by The Cabin Group, who have had a really positive ‘can do’ approach making the whole process so easy. We are very lucky to have the wonderful support of our PTA, who raised and contributed funds to make this possible.

  • The Great Fire of Butlers Court

    Fri 14 Dec 2018

On Monday 19th November 2KL and 2BG went out to the Key Stage 1 playground to see their Tudor-style houses lined up to look like two narrow London streets from 1666. A tiny fire was started in Thomas Farriner’s bakery then we watched in amazement as the fire spread! One by one each house caught fire and the flames raced along the rows of houses until all thirty were reduced to just a pile of ash! It was shocking to see how quickly the fire spread along the houses and helped us understand why the fire in 1666 was so devastating to the people of London

    Fri 14 Dec 2018

On Monday 26th November we took part in a tournament against six competing schools.

Our first game was against Stoke Poges. It was a tight match however; Audrey Wakefield and Aimee Gardner managed two great goals. Luckily we ended the game with a score of 2-0.

Next we played against Gerrards Cross School; it was a tough game ending in a disappointing 0-5 to them. However we kept our spirits high as we played the next game against Iver Village.

This was a nervous game since it was the fight for third place. After lots of interceptions we managed to score two accurate goals by Audrey Wakefield and Georgia Potts. Overall we were proud of what we had done as it all payed off coming third!
