  • Y6 Residential Trip to France

    Wed 18 Jul 2018

Francesca writes: on the 11th of June, Year 6 embarked on the most anticipated trip of the whole 7 years at Butlers Court. With some waking up at 5 am (imagine!) it was an early start for us all, though we managed to catch up on some sleep on the coach ride to Calais. We needed as much rest as we could get, because we were in for an action-packed week!

    • My favourite part of France has got to be the beach because of all the things that we could do like burying our friends in the sand, enjoying some refreshing ice cream, playing frisbee and other activities like rounders. The majority of the year went far out to sea because the water got shallower the further we went. If there was one memory I would relive, it would be the beach. (Ben)

    • My favourite memory was definitely the sweet factory because we were actually shown how to make gummy sweets (which some of us actually helped to make) and boiled sweets which we actually got to taste! They also told us how to make sweets at home which I bet some of us did after the week. Then we were let out into the shop where most of us filled our bags up to the brim. (David)

    • My favorite part of France was when we went to the chocolate factory because they showed us how they made white and dark and milk chocolate; it was very fascinating to watch. When it had finished we want into the shop and we could buy stuff that was amazing - they had stuff like: chocolate cats, chocolate animals and loads more. The most amazing thing was when they were showing us what they made my favourite was the big temple made from chocolate, it was amazing.(Matilda)

    • I enjoyed everything on our French trip but one of my favourites was the aquarium as we were able to see some sea creatures we would not usually see in England such as Sea lions, Tequin sharks, Iguanas and more! We even got to feel Sting Rays and we went to a 4-D movie about how our environment, seas and oceans are getting polluted and destroyed. This was definitely at the top of my list on the things we did in France. (Pemma)

    • France was overall a fantastic trip,

  • Rotary Club Dictionaries

    Wed 11 Jul 2018

Each year Beaconsfield Rotary Club kindly donate dictionaries to all the pupils in Y4.

This is a really lovely gesture and they are greatly received by the children.

These are a fantastic resource for the children to use as they start in their Y5 classes.

  • CARS – Maths in Motion World Finals

    Wed 11 Jul 2018

All of KS2 were in the hall to see how the math’s team performed in the World Finals of the Maths in Motion challenge. Competing against 14 other primary schools our team of Ben Watson, Adam Boodhun, Gabriella Edlin and Zoe Charalambous spent the morning in isolation programming a car using a wide range of maths skills. With 100,000 users in 14 countries just reaching this stage is a tremendous achievement.

The afternoon started with the teacher’s race; the teacher of each school who had a team in the final had programmed a car for the Monaco circuit. Mr Sutton’s performance was not impressive as he finished off the pace in 20th place. Then came the World Final and initially the Butlers Court car slipped down the leader board, however after the first pit stop they slowly climbed the ladder to finish in second place in the Primary World Championship. The team are to be congratulated on their efforts, which continues Butlers Court fine recent successes in this competition of two first places and a second in the last four years.

  • Bike it Breakfast

    Wed 11 Jul 2018

On Monday 25th June, the PTA hosted the annual “Bike it Breakfast” where all children and parents who cycled, scooted or walked to school got a pastry, some fruit and a juice (or coffee) to kick start their day! A beautiful sunny morning meant that there was a very big turnout, with lots of families enjoying their breakfast on the KS1 playground. As always, the pain au chocolat proved to be a big hit. Thank you to the PTA and well done to Owen & Sarven from 6BMS for helping with all the bikes at the bike shed.

  • Intershools Athletics

    Wed 11 Jul 2018

Our athletics teams have made a great start to the year, On Wednesday a Year 6 team and a Year 5/6 team took part in the Quad Sports against 7 other school teams. In this competition every member of the team does a 75m sprint, 600m, standing long jump and throwing the vortex scoring points for the team based on their performances. All competed hard and Matilda Siebrits was the second best girl out of all the competitors while Jayan Rai finished second in the boys and Seb Bocquet first overall. Our B team finished fourth of nine, while our A team won the competition and will go forward to the County Finals in Stoke Mandeville in July.

On Thursday our KS2 team competed against Farnham Common, Burford, Chalfont St Giles and Holmer Green in an athletics competition at the Wycombe Centre. There were notable performances from our distance runners with Rowan and Freddie winning their races. This continued with the sprints and 200m and scores were very close with just the relay team to come. Here our teams benefited from their lunchtime training and blew away the opposition with six of the eight teams winning their races so congratulations to our Y3 boys, Y4 and Y5 teams and Y6 boys. At the end we were clear winners over the other schools with all the team performing well.

  • People who help us!

    Wed 11 Jul 2018

We were so lucky to be visited by Henry’s Mummy PC Harber and her colleague PC Hyde on their beautiful police horses. They told us lots of information about their jobs as police officers and the children were able to stroke and feed the horses. We then watched them cantering around the school field before they had to leave.

A huge thank you to Henry’s Mummy for such an awesome visit.

  • KS2 Sports Day

    Wed 11 Jul 2018

Our annual inter house KS2 sports day enjoyed a fine morning’s weather with the real heat of the day holding off until competition had finished. All the children were excited and ready for events, especially Misbourne, thanks to Monty's motivational winding up during house assembly. The children all competed hard keeping going to claim vital points for their houses or just to finish their races, all supported by an enthusiastic parental audience and their house mates. The event that seems to create the main anguish is the obstacle race with the final task to get a ball into a quoit with a hockey stick; you can see a competitor move from last to first as the ball frustratingly refuses to enter the ring. The final scores were:

    Wye 99

    Chess 102

    Thames 154

    Misbourne 179
