'Believe and Achieve Together'
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear All,
What a great final term for myself with many 'final' milestones enthusiastically marked along the way. I would like to thank everybody for their many kind words and gifts this term, and for all those who have worked so hard to make those special events so special, a huge thank you. Obviously, this term the school has been set up with a series of spies tracking my every move to ensure that I was never aware of songs being practised, banners being made and walks being prepared, whilst not a single one of 420 children let slip a single word. Walking out on the Wednesday afternoon to see everybody lined up was an emotional moment followed by many more. I was looked after in my robe and crown by Archie and Emma and will now expect everybody to keep the Pavilion clean and tidy as I have warned Mr Reynolds I will be back for snap inspections to check it is being looked after.
In the evening I was able to meet up with many ex pupils, staff and parents who came back to say hello and let me know how they are getting on. It was overwhelming that so many took the time to come back, or write to me, to share some memories and wish me well for the future. It was great to hear the wonderful, happy memories of the school and it was surprising the 'little things' that they remembered, one pupil even sent me back a copy of a maths investigation I had marked in 1996 where she had chosen the letters B O R I N G to set up her challenge.
When I walked into Butlers Court 29 years ago nursing two broken ribs from a fall in the Alps it was not my career plan to stay so long, but this place got its hooks into me and I have been happy here, meeting the many challenges provided by the children, changes in our education system, my colleagues and parents. It really is a special place. As I prepare for the next stage of my life I am aware that I have made many friends here in my time that I am leaving behind, but am taking thousands of little memories of my own which will stay with me, even as I embark on my travels, initially to the mountains and glaciers of Patagonia in October and Antarctica in February. A final thank you and I wish each and every one of you the very best for the future and am sure that I will hear of your successes.

The Wye Valley Sports Track event was the last event of the season and again we competed well in fine weather with 5 of our sprinters qualifying for their finals. The long distance races saw some superb performances and personal bests with a third place for Abigail in Y6 and victories For Freddie (Y6), Liam (Y5) and Ellis (Y3).
The form continued in the 200m with 4 competitors gaining certificates and Eavie winning her Y6 race. Thomas Ainger gained a second in the Y6 bean bag while Bibi gained a third in the skipping and in the Sprint Finals Asha cruised to victory in the Y4 event. The afternoon finished with the Relays with all the teams performing well with several close finishes. Although none gained a cup for first place there were third places for the Y4 girls and Y6 girls and second places for both Y3 teams and the Y6 boys. All those who have represented the school this summer should be proud of their efforts.
On Thursday 20th June 2019, the Year 4, 5 & 6 Netball Club hosted our annual end of season netball tournament.
With matches just 6 minutes each way, the games were tight. All teams played well and proved how hard they had worked throughout the year. Well done to Team 1, who were the overall winners with 12 points. Mrs Marshall presented the team with a medal each and the Butlers Court Netball Tournament Trophy!
Winning Team:
Imogen Chicken, Aimee Gardner, Charlotte Murray, Shanaya Fernando, Simran Sumra, Audrey Wakefield
It is always an exciting competition to end the season. I wish the year 6 players well in their new schools and hope they continue to enjoy their netball. In September I look forward to welcoming back players, old and new, from years 5 & 6, along with new members from year 4.

The Year 6 children left a wet Beaconsfield behind for a great trip to Northern France. After crossing the Channel we visited the aquarium in Boulogne before settling into our accommodation on the coast. The next day saw visits to Desvres market and a snail farm where the children tried several recipes after letting them crawl all over their faces and Mr Sutton was treated to a special dish of snails with pate de foie gras and port. The afternoon concluded with an entertaining visit to a chocolate factory. The next day was spent in Boulogne at a sweet factory where there were many children eager to taste the product and then an afternoon on the beach as the sun came out. Paddling in the sea, building sand castles and ice creams were the order of the day. Thursday was a different day as the children responded thoughtfully to our visits to a number of sites from the First World War. Friday concluded with a village study and exploring a hyper market. The children were well behaved and a delight to be away with for the week while many parents commented how much they seemed to have grown during the week and developed a little bit more independence.
We are delighted to showcase some of the artwork recently exhibited in the school this term. Year 6’s held an exhibition displaying the work they had created this year and Take One Picture, held on 11th June, displayed some of the magnificent work that the children throughout the school have produced.
