  • Mrs Marshall - Headteacher Sept 2009 - Dec 2020

    Fri 18 Dec 2020

When I told the governors at the end of 2019 that I would be retiring at the end of 2020 I certainly didn’t anticipate what a final year it was going to be. As a school community I have been very proud of how well we have all navigated through this pandemic. In my eleven years here, it has been a privilege for me to have played a part in the lives of over a thousand children and no more so than during this last year.

It is always a difficult decision to leave behind something that you love but I know I leave behind brilliant staff, supportive parents, the best children and an amazing school. This week Mr. Astbury, my predecessor, visited us for a school tour before my departure. Although there had been many physical changes in the school since he left, we both agreed that the true essence of Butlers Court continues to hold steady.

My concluding remarks from our 50th year celebration resonate today,

“It is to the future we must now look. The buildings may be developed, technology will definitely march on, new educational initiatives will pour out of statute and children will transition through the school, but Butlers Court will hold true to its vision in maximising the opportunities for every child to feel successful and grow with confidence and courtesy. These are precious years of childhood and, although academic success remains important, these years should also be filled with joy, wonder, a love of learning and lasting happy memories.”

I certainly will be taking with me many happy memories of my time here. Over the past few weeks each year group has performed a farewell song to me that has been very touching. Thank you for the all the cards and best wishes I have received. I know I am going to miss you all in January.

I have great regard for your new Headteacher, Mr Butler, and I am sure he will provide superb leadership into 2021.

    Take care and farewell.

    With love, Jeanette Marshall

  • Year 2 Christmas Adventure Day

    Fri 18 Dec 2020

As we could not go on a trip this term, Mrs Loveday and Mrs Cantwell-Wilkinson brought two Outdoor Adventure Days to us!  Wrapped up warm (it was -1 degree!), we enjoyed all sorts of outdoor activities across the two days.  From building sleighs for Santa in the nature area to baking and decorating reindeer biscuits, from making decorations from clay to re-enacting the nativity around the school site, every minute was great fun! We also made Christmas pictures in the nature area using things we had found and made fat balls to feed the birds. We were so busy we barely noticed the cold! What a super way to end our first term in Year 2! Thank you to all the Year 2 Teaching Assistants who made it possible.

Check our class page on the website for lots more wonderful photos.

  • Christmas Lunch

    Fri 18 Dec 2020

We were delighted we were able to provide a hot Christmas lunch to all of the children, albeit in a slightly different format.  Staff and children all enjoyed themselves!
