On Friday 13th December the children enjoyed singing carols to the residents at Sunrise.  The residents thoroughly enjoyed it and even joined in with the well known carols.

  • An Orchestral Triumph!

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

Several of our talented musicians recently enjoyed the experience of playing in a huge orchestra. They joined Y5 and 6 pupils from local primary and secondary schools for a workshop day, Big Noise,  run by the Chiltern Music Academy at the Royal Grammar School. This culminated in a spectacular performance to parents, staff and governors. It was a challenging day but an amazing opportunity and then children's enthusiasm and commitment was a credit to Butlers Court School.

  • 2BG visit Pizza Express

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

Just before half term 2BG got their chance to visit Pizza Express. We were so excited as we walked through Beaconsfield Old Town. When we arrived we washed our hands and began the process of making pizzas. We learnt all about the dough, passata and toppings. Those of us with allergies discovered how Pizza Express manages these. Then we got a tour of the restaurant, including the kitchen! Once we were back at school, we enjoyed our pizzas for lunch. Once the boxes were empty, we wrote instructions on how to make a pizza. A great trip was had by all!

  • Y4 Viking Day

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

On Friday 8th November the Vikings arrived at Butlers Court when Year 4 dressed up and spent an exciting day exploring what life was like in Viking times. They had a go at lots of Viking crafts, including candle making, rune writing, jewellery making and weaving. In the afternoon the children carried out their very own archaeological dig, finding relics to investigate. A fantastic day was had by all, providing lots of stimulus for writing when we got back to class.

  • Year 3 Egyptian Day

    Fri 13 Dec 2019
At the beginning of November all the Year 3 children took part in Egyptian Day. We began our day learning how to do important Egyptian things like mummifying people, creating wax amulets and writing hieroglyphics. Once the children had become Egyptian experts, it was time to take part in a traditional Egyptian banquet. The children put on acting performances, dances and our Pharaoh and Queen were very happy! Unfortunately, Miss Archer and Miss Nagle were accused of poisoning the Pharaoh and sentenced to be buried in the sand and eaten by wild animals...
  • School Games Qualifiers

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

The season for School Games Qualifiers has started, and this half term we have been at badminton and basketball.

    Year 5/6 Badminton

    Dr Challoners High School

We took two teams over to Dr Challoners High School to compete against other schools from our area. The games against the other school were a mixture of singles and doubles. It took us a bit of time to get into our rhythm but once we got there we were very competitive on the court. All of the 8 children from Butlers Court improved as the games went on and many fantastic shots were produced. Overall we ended up receiving first and third place which was great.

    Year 3/4 Badminton

    The Beaconsfield School

Unlike the older children, this competition was comprised of 10 events testing a range of badminton elements and the children working together to reach as many points as possible. Again we managed to take two teams, and both teams were very well behaved and demonstrated some great teamwork.

This was recognised by The Beaconsfield School Leaders and some of our children were awarded badges and wristbands for Determination, Passion and Teamwork. The children had a great time and again demonstrated some great pieces of skill.

    Year 5/6 Basketball
    Dr Challoners High School

The third and final event for this half term proved popular so we took two teams. The basketball matches were based on normal basketball rules, however the girls played the first half of the match and then the boys played the second half. This meant a lot of teamwork and positivity was needed to ensure we did our best.

We had moments of perfect passing, delightful dribbling, superb shots and lots of smiling. The support for each other and between the two teams (even when they were playing each other) was fantastic.

With the games very competitive and the scores very close, we were happy to find out that we had come second and third.

  • Year 6 Football

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

The Year 6 football team started their league campaign this half term, trying to maintain their good form in the cup.

    Robertswood v Butlers Court
The team started very well and had opportunities to score but just couldn’t find the back of the net. This continued as the theme for the whole first half.

Robertswood came more and more into the game and eventually they got a goal and then another. We were 2-0 down with only 10 minutes left. Butlers Court manage to pull together and scored a goal, putting a lot of pressure on the other team. Both teams then had more chances at goal. The game went into its final two minutes and Butlers Court had a great chance to equalise… and they did! The game finished 2-2 and both teams left the pitch very tired after such a tough game.

Butlers Court v Chalfont St. Peter
We fielded two teams against Chalfont St. Peter at home. A league team and a friendly team.

The friendly game saw end to end action, with both teams very good on the attack. Unfortunately, their attack was more clinical and despite the team’s best efforts we lost.

The league was very similar with end to end attacking football however both teams (to start with) struggled to score, with both sets of defence proving very strong.

However, the deadlock was broken and the goals started to come. There was some great finishing from both teams and the game finished 3-2 to Butlers Court.

  • 'Dad's Charity Football Match'

    Tue 10 Dec 2019

Mr Howman, parent of Y3 and Y5 children and his friend, who is a dad of children at St Mary’s, had been discussing the idea of a football match between the dads of St Mary’s children vs those of BCS.

They finally locked in a date for the match and after a couple of “training” sessions we had a full 90 minute, 11-a-side match on Saturday 7th December!

The dad's spiced things up a little by agreeing that the losing team would make a donation to the winning school’s PTA!

Both squads featured about 20 dads, mostly several decades past their prime! But all contributed to a fantastic occasion and a competitively contested match, well supported by mum's and children from both schools.

The final result, probably fairly, was a 3-3 draw, and the decision was made to split the donation between the 2 schools. So the dad's have kindly donated approximately £300 to donate to the PTA.

They are likely to have a rematch in the Spring!

Thank you from Butlers Court for their fantastic donation.
